How to Mill Rough Lumber to S4S | DIY Small Shop Woodworking

Looking to save money at the lumber yard? Try picking up the cheaper rough lumber and use my process for milling lumber.

Today I’m going to be showing you the process for milling rough lumber to S4S using my recently upgraded jointer and planer. I changed the cutterheads on both tools from straight knives to helical heads. The difference is night and day.

Final Thoughts

I am very happy with how easy the milling process is now that I have upgraded both the jointer and planer with helical heads from mywoodcutters.com. The lumber that I milled is part of an upcoming furniture build video for a white oak coffee table project. Stay tuned!
